Relaxation & Cancer Recovery
Lenore Dollinger, RN, PhD
Adapted for the Canadian edition by Alastair J. Cunningham,
PhD, PhD, CPsych
We are all beginning to recognize that health is a balance
of many factors—physical and environmental, emotional
and mental, lifestyle habits and spiritual beliefs.
Stress plays a key role in this balance. Stress is well
known as a contributing factor in a broad range of
disorders. In fact, it's estimated that 50 to 80 percent
of illnesses have some stress component. Stress is
recognized as a risk factor in addictions, obesity,
high blood pressure, peptic ulcer , colitis, asthma,
insomnia, migraine headaches, lower back pain
and many psychological disorders.
